Fall Colours, No bugs, epic dirt and more ridiculously beautiful look-outs than you can shake a stick at….only a handful of reasons why fall riding is as good as it gets in Barry’s Bay. Its arguably the best time to ride in the Madawaska Valley.

FALL-OVR is now in year 4 and for good reason! The trails are amazing, the views are breathtaking and as always, the riders that show up are a solid bunch of guys and gals, so naturally FALL-OVR 4 will continue that tradition.

Unlike our OVR event in the Spring, Fall OVR features an expansive main track that will connect all of the best look outs in the area…of which there are many! Combine this with the fall colours and we are talking one serious photo op! Get your camera’s and your bikes ready!

But we hear you out there…. “will it be as gnarly as OVR??” The answer is Yes and No. The main track will be a little less gnarly than normal so that those less inclined to hit it hard may partake. That said, we will never leave our hardcore brothers and sisters hanging and will have plenty of the rough stuff in the form of option sections and/or loops.

“But what about big bikes??”… Yep, we got some solid routes for the the big adventure and dual sport bikes as well! In fact, our area is darn near perfect in the fall for riding the big bikes, so don’t be shy!

After a solid day of riding to the top of the world and snapping epic fall colour panoramas with your best buddies and/or best NEW buddies, everyone will retire to their water front cabin or Rv site at Sunny Hill and enjoy fire side sunsets off the first order!

Sounds terrible, we know…;)

FALL-OVR is not a race! It is an adventure and technical trail ride of the first order, designed to give participants a chance to experience the spectacular trail networks and fall colour vistas the Ottawa Valley is known for.

THE EVENT:

Sign In and Riders Meeting: Upon arrival to Sunny Hill, participants will proceed to the resort check in to be assigned their cabin or trailer site. Participants will then be directed to event sign in where they will sign waivers and receive their welcome package and raffle tickets.

THE RIDING: Riding will take place Saturday, with shorter optional loop on Sunday. FOVR4 is a GPS guided trail ride that runs single track, ATV trails and back roads in and around the Madawaska Valley. Most of what Enduro riders will encounter is challenging, yet fun single track that leads to big pay offs! Adventure riders can expect long days and epic trails, with the odd challenge thrown in to keep things interesting.

As with last year, FOVR4 riders can expect complimentary coffee from local coffee roaster, Madawaska Coffee at Saturday’s fuel/rest stop.

Routes: Our routes for FOVR4 will consist of Enduro tracks and an Adventure Bike routes.

Enduro: Participants must possess at least a novice level of riding experience and well above that will fair best.  Beginners/newcomers to off road riding will find the Enduro route extremely challenging, especially the very beginning of the track out of the resort, and we do not recommend participating… Just ask some of our participants from past years. Our Enduro tracks can be relentless, but they are huge amounts of fun. All of our tougher sections generally have go arounds, but teamwork makes the dream work!

Adventure: For those who like higher mileage rides on the big bikes, we have our Adventure route. Participants should also be experienced. Although not as technical as the Enduro route, some sections on this route will be no less of a challenge on the bigger bikes and will likely require some amount of team work to successfully negotiate these bits. As mentioned, Miles are expected to be higher, with road connections between hydro cuts, ATV trails and dirt roads….and maybe one or two surprises thrown in for good measure.

Team work makes the dream work! Ideally, we like our riders to be in teams of 2 or more. This is for safety reasons – A team provides a safety net for you and your teammates to rely on in case of injuries and/or mechanical issues. That said, meeting new people is part of the adventure, so if you do not have a team, you are welcome to sign up and find new riding buddies to ride with at the event.

Bike requirements: The Enduro route is intended for small to mid-size bikes. 200-350 class bikes are ideal. 450’s will be fine, 650 class will struggle on some technical sections. Adventure is intended for medium to large sized bikes. This route will be less technical but longer in distance. Both Blue and Green plates are welcome, however, bikes must be insured and plated properly, riders must be fully licensed and Green plated bikes are limited to the Enduro route only. Noise levels will be observed (94db max).  As trail sections may be joined using roadways and highways, all green plated participants are expected to observe the rules and keep on the shoulder at the legal speed for green plated vehicles. Lighting kits are  highly recommended for green plated bikes.  All bikes must be very off road capable and have aggressive off road knobby tires. Anything short of this will not only make things unnecessarily difficult, but could potentially be unsafe on some trails.  Every team must have at least one (1) first aid kit and one (1) tool kit with extra tubes/patch kit. Tow straps and knowledge on how to use one is also highly recommended. Enduro riders will be required to bring a jerry can as well. It should hold at minimum a tanks worth of fuel for your bike. A bike safety check will be held at check in to ensure all teams meet these requirements. Cell numbers for each team must be submitted to OVR staff upon registration.

TICKET OPTIONS:

New for this year, accommodations will no longer be included in the ticket price and will need to be reserved separately. “What the heck?” ….. I hear ya, but not to worry, this way teams have more control over their accommodations as well as knowing exactly where your money is going. Rates are the same as what are on Sunny Hill’s website and you book through us so we can ensure only OVR participants are at the resort on this weekend.

As such, this is the deal for FOVR4:

Step 1 - Click “Register Here” to go to our registration page

Step 2 - Click on “Get Tickets”. There you will see the tabs “Admission” and “Add-Ons”. Admission is where you’ll get your ticket for the event. No matter what, you will need one of these, so click on that to add it to your basket. If you do not need accommodations or already have accommodations elsewhere, pay and you done! If you require accommodations at Sunny Hill, proceed to Step 3.

Step 3 - Click “Add-Ons” and choose your accomodation type (Cabin or Trailer site). Size of each cabin or site is listed in the description. There is also a link to the SH website for full details of each cottage. Once you have chosen your accommodation type, add it to the basket.
